For the second straight year, Kiley Demoss and Caroline Lovvorn defeated teammates Albany Ray and Emma Tagg to claim the girls’ doubles region championship.
The Madisonville teammates squared off in Wednesday’s title match at Henderson County High School, with Demoss and Lovvorn claiming the 6-1, 6-1 victory.
For Demoss, it’s her third straight region title. She won the singles championship in 2023 and has stood at the top of the medal podium with Lovvorn for the past two years.
Demoss and Lovvorn moved into the championship match with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Hopkins County Central’s Addison Rickard and Lilly Armour in the semifinals.
Tagg and Ray, who began the tournament as the No. 4 seed, defeated two-seed Elissa Adams and Callie Mackey 6-1, 6-1 in the other semifinal.
All four semifinalists will advance to the KHSAA State Tennis Tournament, which will be held May 27-29 in Lexington.
