Greenwood closed out the regular season on a five-game winning streak after a 6-2 victory on Thursday that left visiting Christian County with its third defeat in its last four outings.  The Colonels slipped to 14-13 ahead of Friday’s regular-season finale against Marshall County.

Greenwood did most of its damage in a five-run fifth, highlighted by Chaze Huff’s RBI double and Jake Flickinger’s two-run triple.

Nolan Young took the loss on the mound for the Colonels, allowing an earned run on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.  Aiden Lewis gave up five earned runs on three hits with a strikeout and two walks in an inning of work, and Sebastian Dazey struck out two in a scoreless frame.

Ethan York earned the win for the Gators, holding the Colonels to two unearned runs on three hits with a walk and four strikeouts in six and a third innings.  Flickinger finished with two hits and drove in three runs, and Huff added two RBI.

Greenwood improved to 25-6 ahead of postseason play next week.
