Apollo extended its winning run to five games and handed visiting Hopkinsville a third-straight defeat on Thursday with a 12-1, five-inning victory over the Tigers.

The Eagles broke open a 2-1 game with seven runs in the fourth, thanks in part to three hit-by-pitches.  John Milburn added an RBI single, Ryleigh Logan followed with a two-run double, and Ty Lillpop capped the inning with a run-scoring triple.

Apollo then finished off the Tigers in the bottom of the fifth on back-to-back RBI doubles by Jagger Pate and Garrett Lanham.

Lanham led the Eagles with three RBI, followed by Milburn, Logan, Lillpop, and Pate with two each.

Freshman Isaac James earned the win on the mound, holding the Tigers to a single earned run on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts to help the Eagles improve to 17-10.

Gavin Mitchell had two hits for Hoptown, and also took the loss after giving up 12 runs, 11 earned, on 10 hits with two walks and a pair of strikeouts over four innings.

Hopkinsville slipped to 12-13 ahead of home and away matchups with Calloway County on Friday and Saturday.
