An 11-run third inning put the finishing touches on Union County’s 16-1 victory over visiting Hopkins County Central on Monday.  The Storm slipped to 7-20 ahead of Friday’s regular-season finale at Heritage Christian Academy.

Hopkins Central took a first-inning lead on Kullen Marshall’s RBI single, but the Storm would only manage one more hit the rest of the way against Union County’s Coltin Capps.

Brady Greenwell doubled in two runs for a 3-1 Braves’ advantage in the bottom of the first, and they made it 5-1 on Capps’ RBI single in the second.

Four walks and five hit-by-pitches fueled an 11-run third for Union County, including RBI singles by Greenwell, Garrett Shouse, and Noah Burgess.

Capps struck out four to even his record at 5-5 and help the Braves improve to 13-16.  Greenwell finished with two hits and three RBI, Burgess drove in three runs, and Nobles added two RBI.

Keegan Allen took the loss for the Storm, allowing five runs, four earned, on two hits with six walks and a strikeout.
