After more than two years out of ‘the bigs,’ Hopkinsville Tiger Easton McGee is headed back up. CBS Sports reported Sunday that McGee had been called up from the Nashville Sounds by the Sound’s parent club, the Milwaukee Brewers.

The last time McGee was in a major league game, back in April 2023, he looked to be well on his way after going 6 ⅔ innings in a start for the Seattle Mariners and giving up just one hit.

The former Mr. Baseball from Hopkinsville High School took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of the game on April 29 that year, getting a no decision in a 1-0 Seattle loss at Toronto. McGee retired the first 12 batters he faced before a walk to Matt Chapman to begin the fifth inning. He threw only 64 pitches and struck out two.

That start would be his only appearance for the Mariners as arm discomfort led to the discovery that season-ending surgery was needed.

McGee would return to the field just over a year later, in July 2024 for the Nashville Sounds. McGee signed a two-year deal with the Milwaukee Brewers in November 2023 after his release from the Seattle Mariners.

As of Sunday morning, McGee had pitched 18 ⅓ innings in 13 relief appearances with a 3.44 ERA for the Sounds this season.
