Heritage Christian Academy took on Fort Campbell in a play-in game for the 8th District baseball tournament on Monday, and the Warriors were able to mercy-rule the Falcons 10-0 in five innings.
The driving force in the win was the pitching from Ethan Miles. He threw all five innings and only allowed three hits with eleven strikeouts on the day.
To start the game, HCA put up five runs in the first inning against Nolin Starnater, who made the start for Fort Campbell. After seven runs from the Warriors, the Falcons put in their ace in Michael Anderson.
While they did slightly stop the bleeding, it was too little too late, as Anderson allowed three runs to give up the Mercy.
Collin Outland led the way for HCA’s offense, finishing the game with two hits, no walks, and three of the team’s runs batted in.
Another factor in the win for HCA was the seven errors that Fort Campbell made, which allowed the Warriors to score even more runs.
The winner of this game went on to face top-seeded Christian County in the semifinals at University Heights Academy.
