University Heights and Christian County faced off on Wednesday evening to see who would take home the 8th District Championship, and the Blazers got the better of the Colonels 6-0 behind 13 strikeouts from Hayden Hunt.
He would have liked to have finished the game himself, but he still threw 6.1 innings and allowed just one hit in 117 pitches.
As for the Colonels’ pitching, Edward Davis got the start, but exited in the third inning with what appeared to be a back injury.
Jackson Flynn had two of UHA’s six hits and knocked in two of the Blazers’ six runs. Aiden Jones also had two RBIs with a single in the top of the third inning.
The other three hits came from Cadence Gibson, Courtland Gibson, and Eli Finch, the last of which resulted in a run in the third.
As for the Colonels, their only hit in the game came from a double in the bottom of the first from Sebastian Dazey.
This is UHA’s second straight 8th District Championship, as they also beat Christian County last season with a score of 7-4.
Both the Colonels and the Blazers will be in action in the 2nd Region Tournament, with the latter hoping to avenge their loss to Hopkinsville in last year’s tourney.
