The Todd County Central Rebels were right there in the game until the bottom of the 6th inning, and then things got away from them. Franklin-Simpson scored six times in the bottom of the sixth inning, blowing open a close game and taking a 10-3 win over the Rebels in the semifinals of the 13th District baseball tournament.

The game was moved to Warren Central High School in Bowling Green after Wednesday night’s rains rendered the Russellville baseball field too wet to play.

The Rebels and the Wildcats were tied 3-3 going into the fifth inning. Franklin-Simpson got a run in the bottom of the 5th to inch the lead out to 4-3.

In the 6th, the Wildcats opened with a walk, a single, an error and then a hit batter to make it 5-3. Franklin-Simpson’s Griff Banton then blasted a grand slam to blow the lead out to 9-3. The Wildcats added one more late in the inning on a sac bunt to make it 10-3.

The Wildcats outhit the Rebels 8-3 for the game. Both teams had their issues in the field. Todd Central was charged with four errors, while the Wildcats were charged with three miscues.

Devin Schutt, Conner Wheeler, and Hunter Johnson had one hit each for the Rebels.

Tommy VanBeber got the start for the Rebels and went the distance on the mound.

Todd County Central ends the season at 12-12.
