The KHSAA issued a statement Thursday night. The way it reads, the team standings will not stand and neither will the individual placements/medals in the running events.
UPDATE at 8:18 pm, May 22, 2025, from the KHSAA
Due to a variety of meet, administrative and technical errors with the timing and results process, all Class 1A Region 1 running events must be rerun.
The KHSAA office and state meet officials, including the software company, have conducted a lengthy review to try and solve the issues and find an alternative solution. Unfortunately, none of the running events were timed in the correct format. Accurate performance records are not available or able to be reconstructed, dramatically reducing alternative options. We have also consulted with the NFHS to be certain that the final determination is compliant with Federation rules. With at-large state qualifiers at stake, it is also vital to ensure fairness and transparency for the other six regions in Class 1A.
After an emergency Zoom meeting with the member schools in the region, it has been determined that the best path forward is for the meet to be rescheduled for Saturday, May 24th at 1:00 PM CT. The site has also been moved to Caldwell County High School. We are thankful for both the great participation and understanding of the region teams throughout the rescheduling discussion.
Only the running events will need to be conducted again, as the field events were not impacted. The unified and adapted events will not need to be repeated. Due to the rerun and according to NFHS Rules, all performances from running events of the first meet will be voided, including place (qualifying), time, and record, as well as the team results and scoring. State qualifiers will only be considered from the performances of the running events in Class 1A Region 1 on Saturday, May 24th.
The original entries submitted by the schools will remain as the entries for the rescheduled meet. Because this is a reset from the beginning, coaches may make new relay declarations when reporting to the clerk.

ORIGINAL STORY
Multiple timing errors will result in the re-running of the Class 1A Region 1 Meet following consultation with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.
YourSportsEdge.com reached out to multiple track and field coaches and athletic directors of the schools involved on Thursday afternoon. They confirmed that all running events will be re-run this Saturday, starting at 1 pm at Caldwell County High School. This includes the 100, 110, and 300-meter hurdles, the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, and 3200-meter runs, and the 400, 800, 1600, and 3200-meter relays.
Jumping and throwing events are not affected because they are measured events on-site.
Coaches said the re-run is the result of some of the events held at Murray High School not reflecting the correct times and/or places, and that some didn’t have times listed at all. It’s not immediately known at what point in the meet the timing errors were known.
Most large track meets utilize computerized timing with the assistance of video that helps determine the winners of close races, much like a photo finish at a horse race. This also allows for live scoring of the event, which allows coaches to keep up with up-to-the-minute team scores. However, there was no live timing at Wednesday’s meet, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday evening, but moved to Wednesday afternoon due to storms that came through Murray Tuesday afternoon.
The Class 2A, Region 1 Meet was moved to Monday and held with near-ideal weather conditions.
The top two finishers of each race automatically qualify for the state meet at the end of the month in Lexington. The next 10 best times/distances/heights from all regions earn large bids. This is why accurate times are crucial to determine who may get an at-large berth.
A source told YourSportsEdge that a Zoom call with coaches and athletic directors was held Thursday afternoon with the KHSAA and that Commissioner Julian Tackett was a part of that call. While there were no really good solutions, a coach told YSE that a mulligan for the running events was the best option at this point and that Saturday was the cut-off date for state meet entries.
Region track and field meets are some of the toughest to schedule because of the involvement of multiple schools who have different schedules of graduations, baccalaureate, senior events, and more.
At the conclusion of Wednesday’s meet, Fort Campbell was named the boys’ region champion with Caldwell County the runner-up. Murray was given the girls’ team trophy, and Caldwell County was the runner-up.
When asked if the re-do would mean re-doing the team standings, one coach wasn’t sure, and another said they would not. No answer was given on whether the events were locked and whether a runner, who was entered in an event but who opted not to run on Wednesday, could now run on Saturday.
As of 5:00 pm Thursday, there had been no statement from the KHSAA.
This is a developing story, and more details will be updated in this story when they are known.

All while the region meet help in McCracken county was held during storms, rain, and wind! We deserve another chance to re-run as well. The times are not a representation of what those kids can do while running against high winds. The meet was postponed at least 4 times. Wind was so bad it almost blew the entire time tent away.
So does this mean the interview that was taken with the Fort Campbell high school athlete not be posted?
It will still be posted.
This was horrible!!! I feel like there was an alternative underlying reason that this even happened. This situation needs to be investigated to the fullest so
It does not happen again! All region 1 a kids deserve better and Sarah Bridenbaugh you should represent and give people answers.
