
Fort Campbell made it back-to-back region championships on Saturday, hoisting the first-place trophy for the second time in less than a week.
The running events were ordered to be re-run on Saturday at Caldwell County High School after timing and scoring issues arose on Wednesday’s original date at Murray High School. The field events were not affected by the scoring snafu.
The top two finishers at region and the next 10 times/heights/distances statewide qualified for the state meet set for Thursday at the University of Kentucky.
Despite the mulligan, Fort Campbell’s first-place finish on Wednesday was unchanged on Saturday as the Falcons totaled 118 points to finish ahead of Caldwell County (104) and Murray (87).
In all, Fort Campbell qualified for Thursday’s state track and field meet in 13 events.
Leaf Dewitt qualified for the state meet in two events, winning the high jump with a personal best of 6-2 and finishing in second place in the long jump with a personal best of 20-4.5.
J.P. Perryman won the triple jump at 42-2.5.
Samuel Atoubi finished in second place in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.85 seconds.
Ryker Kramer finished in second place in the pole vault at 7-6.
Mateo Cerritos-Gatto came in second place in the 400 meters in 51.80 seconds.
Adam Berry finished in third place in the high jump with a personal best of 5-10 to earn a state berth.
Andrew Bennett nabbed a state berth with a third-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:05.64.
Aiden Ward qualified in the 400-meter run with a fourth-place finish in a new personal best of 53.84 seconds.
The 3200-meter relay team of Ryker Kramer, Levi Kruse, Andrew Bennett, and Jayden Perry took second place in 8:39.27.
Also finishing in second place was the 800-meter team of Samuel Atoubi, Mateo Cerritos-Gatto, Eric Greene, and Aiden Ward in 1:31.86.
Second place also went to the 1600-meter team of Aiden Ward, Matwo Cerritos-Gatto, Samuel Atoubi, and Andrew Bennett in a time of 3:30.79.
The 400-meter team squeezed in a state meet berth with a third-place finish in 45.13. The team was comprised of Mateo Cerritos-Gatto, Aiden Ward, Eric Greene, and JP Perryman.
In other events, Jayden Perry finished third in the 1600-meter run in 5:08.82 and fifth in the 800 meters in 2:07.93.
Ryker Kramer was third in the 3200 meters in 11:04.80.
Levi Kruse came in fourth place in the triple jump at 36-3.
Samuel Knowlton came in sixth place in the 110-meter hurdles in a personal best time of 20.64 seconds.
Miguel Oranday was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles in 48.63 seconds.
Adam Berry was seventh in the 200 meters in 25.05 seconds.
Antonio Rivera came in seventh place in the shot put with a personal best toss of 33-7 and was seventh in the discus throw at 95-8, another PR distance.
J.P. Perryman came in seventh place in the long jump at 14-10.
Tadaro Taylor was ninth in the 100 meters in 12.76 seconds.
Lincoln Wilbur was 12th in the shot put at 27-7.5 and 12th in the discus throw at 69-3.
