Lady Blazers Will Have Six Entries at State Track and Field Meet

The University Heights Academy girls’ track and field team placed fourth at the Class 1A Region 1 Meet and will have six entries at the state meet.

The Lady Blazers scored 57 points to finish behind Murray (109), Caldwell County (106), and Ballard Memorial (66).

The Lady Blazers went 1-2 in the 300-meter hurdles. Emma Dill won in 52.90 seconds, and seventh grader Harper Bolinger ran a personal best time of 53.79 seconds to claim second place.

Ajae Oatts came in second place in the 200 meters in 28.54 seconds.

The 800-meter relay team qualified for the state meet with a second place finish in a time of 1:52.73. The runners were Emma Dill, Ajae Oatts, Palin Hampton, and Kendall Hancock.

Also finishing in second place was the 400-meter team of Aliviah Acree, Harper Bolinger, Amoree Owens, and Palin Hampton in 54.48 seconds.

A third relay team – the 1600-meter squad of Dill, Hancock, Oatts, and Owens – finished in second place in 4:25.07 to earn a trip to state.

In other events, Ajae Oatts came in third place in the 100-meter dash in 13.66 seconds.

Palin Hampton was sixth in the long jump at 14-5.

Aliviah Acree was 10th in the 100-meter dash in 14.46 seconds.

Rhyss Sallie was 12th in the long jump at 11-10.5.

The running events were ordered to be re-run on Saturday at Caldwell County High School after timing and scoring issues arose on Wednesday’s original date at Murray High School. The field events were not affected by the scoring snafu.

The top two finishers at region and the next 10 times/heights/distances statewide qualified for the state meet set for Thursday at the University of Kentucky.
