Brylee Butts powered a grand slam out of the park in the bottom of the second inning to help fuel Caldwell County’s win over Union County in the quarterfinals of the 2nd Region Tournament on Monday afternoon.
The Lady Tigers were able to get a 6-3 win, and their victory was powered by the long ball, as they hit a total of three in the game which gave them all six of their runs.
Harper Holeman hit a solo shot in the bottom of the first to get the scoring in the game started, following quickly by Butts’ grand slam. Then another solo shot from Alexis Wood gave Caldwell their six runs, and that was enough to secure the win.
Carlee Palm, Josie Palm, and Daelen Kizzee also finished the game with hits of their own.
Wood started on the mound for the Lady Tigers, and she was able to pitch all seven innings while allowing just two earned runs on seven hits.
Caldwell will advance to the semifinals to face off against the Lady Cardinals of Livingston Central.
