Heritage Christian Academy 8th grader Stephen Whitecotton made school history recently by advancing to the semifinals of the region tennis tournament, which in turn meant a qualifying spot at this week’s state tournament in Lexington.

Whitecotton is scheduled to play Corbin’s Nathaniel Hill in Tuesday’s opening round at 8:00 Eastern Time at Sayre High School. Hill comes in as one of the top 16 singles players in the state.

The weather forecast in Lexington calls for rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, which could postpone Whitecotton’s start time.

In this YSE interview, Whitecotton recaps his play at region and what he expects at his first state tournament.
