Caldwell County had one entry in the boys and girls state tennis tournaments on Tuesday, and both came away with first-round losses.
The boys’ doubles team of seniors Cade Rowland and Cason Littlejohn fell to Paducah Tilghman’s T.J. Duwe and Leyton Morris 6-0, 6-0.
Also making the girls’ state tournament was sophomore Ella Johnson, who lost 6-0, 6-0 to Cooper’s Kayla Johnson, one of the top 16 seeded players in the state.
It was Johnson’s first trip to the state tourney after playing doubles last year.
The first day of the state tournament was moved indoors due to rain in the central Kentucky region. The boys played at the Lexington Tennis Center while the girls’ field was split between the University of Kentucky and the Bluegrass Racquet Club in Nicholasville.
