The state tournament run for Madisonville-North Hopkins seniors Emma Tagg and Albany Ray came to an end at Wednesday’s KHSAA State Tennis Tournament in Lexington.
The Lady Maroon pair lost to McCracken County’s Cassidy Parker and Alexis Poore 6-2, 6-0 in what was one of the few girls’ matches to be played outdoors on Wednesday. Rain throughout Tuesday and Wednesday in Lexington forced most of the state tournament to be moved indoors.
For Tagg and Ray, it was their second straight state tourney appearance, joining their teammates Kiley Demoss and Caroline Lovvorn as the only girls’ doubles teams from Madisonville to make back-to-back state appearances.
They won their opening round match on Tuesday for their first victory at the state level.
