Near Misses, School Record Define UHA’s Day at Girls State Track Meet

The University Heights Academy girls’ track and field team endured a frustrating afternoon at the KHSAA Class 1A State Track and Field Meet on Thursday, just missing the medal podium in a pair of events.

The 800-meter relay team of Emma Dill, Palin Hampton, Ajae Oatts, and Kendall Hancock was ninth for a second straight year, completing two circuits around the track in 1:51.67.

Ajae Oatts also came in ninth place in the 200-meter dash in 26.83 seconds, missing a medal by less than .02 seconds.

The 1600-meter relay team of Dill, Oatts, Hancock, and Amoree Owens finished in 14th place in 4:29.07.

The 400-meter relay team of Aliviah Acree, Amoree Owens, Harper Bolinger, and Palin Hampton came in 20th place in 54.40 seconds, but set a new school record by .04 seconds.

Emma Dill was 12th in the 300-meter hurdles in 50.89 seconds, while Harper Bolinger came in 21st place in 53.18 seconds.
