
Hopkinsville High School had three individual entries and four relays compete at Friday’s KHSAA Class 2A State Track and Field Meet at the University of Kentucky.
Alexis Herrera-Lovato passed three runners in the final 100 meters to finish 12th in the 800 meters in 2:36.91.
Lauren Mayes finished in 12th place in the 3200 meters in 12:36.65, more than 19 seconds faster than her time at the region meet.
Grace Cansler ran the 400 meters in 1:05.01 to come in 17th place.
The 400-meter relay team of Alicia Davis, Kaniya Jackson Grundy, Aireona Spikes, and Leaunna Wilkerson finished in 10th place in 53.32 seconds, missing the medal podium by just .36 seconds.
The 1600-meter relay team of Grace Cansler, Alicia Davis, Kaniya Jackson Grundy, and Alexis Herrera-Lovato came in 13th place in 4:31.37.
The 3200-meter relay team of Kaydon Coats, Lauren Mayes, Alexis Herrera-Lovato, and Rebecca Wood ran in a moderate rain shower to finish in 15th place in 11:42.62.
The 800-meter relay team of Kaniya Jackson Grundy, Grace Cansler, Alicia Davis, and Aireona Spikes finished 13th with a time of 1:55.19.
