Trashaun Smith’s track and field career closed on Saturday with two more trips to the medal podium at the KHSAA Class 3A State Meet in Lexington.
The Madisonville-North Hopkins senior began his day alternating between the high jump venue and the triple jump pit.
He finished second in the triple jump at 46-7.5. He was a foot behind the winner, Malcolm Crow of Frederick Douglass.
Smith also took second place in the high jump at 6-4, just two inches off the winner, Aaron Ramey of Central.
Smith also finished 16th in the long jump Saturday at 19-1.25.
Smith won two state championships as a junior, becoming the first MNHHS athlete to accomplish the feat. He owns the school record in the triple jump (48-10.5), set at this year’s region meet, and the long jump (23-6), set last year.
Also for the Maroons, Kadence Price threw a personal best 45-10.5 in the shot put to finish in 11th place.
The 400-meter relay team of Brady Marsh, Louis Ampry, Manny Burrus, and Colin Civils finished in 19th place in 44.50 seconds.
Smith’s podium visits gave Madisonville 16 points, good for 15th in the team standings.
