Madisonville Derails Fulton 10-4, Shares OVL Lead

The Madisonville Miners are off to a 3-0 start and find themselves tied atop the standings in the Ohio Valley League.

The Miners built a 6-0 lead Monday and went on to defeat the Fulton Railroaders 10-4 at Elmer Kelley Stadium in Madisonville.

Sellers Neuendorf of Auburn University at Montgomery went five shutout innings to start the game for the Miners, who are tied with the Full Count Rhythm at 3-0.

Dylan Toler was 2-for-4 and knocked in two runs while Logan Bailey homered for Madisonville. Pete Britton and Ian Cartwright each had doubles and a pair of runs batted in. Justin Early was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

The Miners put up three-spots in the first and fifth innings. A four-run sixth had Madisonville up 10-1 before the Railroaders chopped into that lead late.

For Fulton (0-3), Shane Carnes was 2-for-4 while Jacob Lott and Austin Phillips each went 2-for-5, with Phillips recording a triple. Chris Henson homered and A.J. Armstrong doubled.

Railroader starter Grant Baskin took the loss on the mound. He gave up just one hit in four innings but allowed three earned runs.

The Miners will head to Tennessee on Tuesday for a first-place showdown with Full Count.
