Former Christian County Mr. Baseball Elijah Underhill is transferring from Eastern Kentucky University after two seasons and will be heading closer to home to Austin Peay State University. Underhill made the announcement on social media over the weekend.
His transfer comes less than a month after EKU opted not to bring back head coach Walt Jones for the 2026 season. The school announced Jan Wesiberg as the new head coach on May 31.
Ten of Underhill’s 15 pitching appearances in 2025 were as a starter. He struggled to a 1-9 record with a 12.38 ERA. At the plate, he hit a walk-off home run to beat North Alabama on March 23.
As a freshman, Underhill was 2-3 with 20 strikeouts in 17 2/3 innings. He also had a homer at the plate and eight RBI, with that home run coming against his new school in Clarksville.
Underhill was the Kentucky Mr. Baseball in 2023 after batting .430 for Christian County with eight home runs at the plate and 115 strikeouts on the mound.
