The Madisonville Miners went into their game against the Fulton Railroaders on Saturday evening looking to break their four game losing streak, but they were unfortunately not able to do that.
Starting pitcher Tyler Chapman was the key in the win for Fulton, as he allowed just one run and had six strikeouts in the five innings that he pitched. His performance was the driving force in the 7-3 win for the Railroaders.
Ernesto Mendiondo made the start on the mound for the Miners, and was able to have a solid game. He threw four innings and allowed just one hit and two runs with three strikeouts. It was just the five walks that got him in a bit of trouble.
The first run of the game for the Miners came in the bottom of the fourth inning as a result of an error. As for the other two, they both came in the bottom of the ninth. One came from Noah Berning grounding into a fielder’s choice, and the other from a single from Coulter Hamilton.
The team’s other two hits came from Berning and Justin Early.
Madisonville will be hoping they can get back on track in their next game on Monday, June 16, against the Full Count Rhythm. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Drake Creek Park in Hendersonville, TN.
