Lyon County had a pair of players named to the Class 1A All-State Team by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association.
Sophomore Courtney Collins hit .429 with three home runs and 25 RBI while anchoring down the shortstop position. She has 14 homers in her Lyon County career and is a .412 hitter.
Junior Jenna Coursey had a breakout season with six home runs, 29 RBI, and 17 extra-base hits while playing multiple positions.
While softball is not a classed sport in Kentucky, the state’s coaches use the three-class enrollment numbers from track and field to determine its All-State honors. Voting is conducted by members of the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association.
They will be recognized at next weekend’s East West Weekend in Bowling Green.
