The Madisonville Miners were hoping to get back on track on Sunday evening after back-to-back losses in their two previous games. But they had the misfortune of running into the Full Count Rhythm on perhaps their best pitching night of the season so far.
Ryan Sweeney made the start for the Rhythm, and was able to rack up eight strikeouts in the four innings he pitched. The four other pitchers that took the mound for them only allowed one hit combined in the team’s 14-2 win over the Miners.
As for Madisonville, Caden Wooldridge started and was also able to pitch four innings. While he allowed five hits and four runs, he was able to get six strikeouts.
The team’s two runs were both scored in the bottom of the seventh inning, the first of which came as a result of Pete Britton drawing a walk with the bases loaded. The second came from a sacrifice fly from Cliff Wysinger in the very next at-bat.
The Miners’s one and only hit in the game was a single in the bottom of the sixth from Coulter Hamilton.
The team will be looking to get back on track and snap their four-game losing streak in their next game on Monday, June 23, against the Henderson Flash. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Madisonville City Park.
