Madisonville-North Hopkins has named Benjamin Burnison the head coach of its swim program.

Burnison is a Nelson County native who swam at the state meet for the Cardinals before his college career at Campbellsville University.

As a senior at CU in 2023-24, Burnison set two school records in the 800-meter freestyle relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. He took seventh place in the 200-meter butterfly and eighth in the 500-yard freestyle at the Mid-South Conference Championships for Campbellsville and earned Academic All-Conference honors.

Burnison holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design with a minor in History.

He takes over a Madisonville swim program that has been a regional contender the past few years, but like several other schools, experienced a decline in participation in 2024-25.
