Kentucky’s football recruiting continues to go a different direction and got its second commitment from a Texas high school player when cornerback Isaiah McMillan of Katy High School verbally committed to the Cats Saturday.

The 6-0, 170-pound cornerback had offers from Iowa, Arizona, Pittsburgh, Houston, SMU, Arkansas, Maryland, Baylor, Syracuse, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, Northwestern, TCU, Oregon State, Washington State and Utah — he had over 30 offers. He made official visits to Arizona, Iowa, Pittsburgh and Houston before picking Kentucky.

McMillan, a track standout, has run the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds.

“Coach (Chris) Collins has been in touch almost every day, which shows the relationship me and him have built, along with he and coach (Brad) White coming to see me in Katy,” he told Lee Ann Herring Olvedo of UK Wildcats Wire.

Recruiting analysts like his explosive speed in the secondary that can disrupt offenses.

Collins was the link that got McMillan to Kentucky.

  1. The ESPN computer says Kentucky will finish in 14th place in the SEC this year and gives us a 0.1% of winning the SEC. I guess we can take solace in it giving both Vanderbilt and Mississippi St. a 0.0% chance. Being a football Cat fan means taking any positive you can going into the season.
