Kentucky has only officially signed one freshman — Kaelyn Carroll — to add to its 2025-26 women’s basketball roster to go along with three transfers — Josie Galvin, Asia Boone and Tonie Morgan — also joining the Cats.

However, coach Kenny Brooks also has two other additions that could play huge roles next season. Injuries kept transfer guards Jordan Obi (Penn) and Dominika Paurová (Oregon State) from playing last season with the Cats.

Obi was injured during 2024 summer workouts after she had earned first team All-Ivy League honors by averaging 14.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 blocks per game the previous year.

Paurová suffered an ACL injury playing with Czechia’s U20 team last summer in the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket. She played in all 35 Oregon games  during her freshman season when she averaged 5.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 16.4 minutes per contest.

Coach Kenny Brooks said Tuesday that Paurová was cleared a day earlier to participate in all on-court activities.

He called Obi and Paurova “a secret that we know about” and made it clear he was eager to have both players, who he thought would play huge roles last year, ready to go because of the versatility they provide

“Because both of them are 6-1, we can play small with them, but they’re still long and athletic, or we can go extremely big. Their versatility is just going to provide something for us that I think a lot of people underestimate because they didn’t play last year or we didn’t get them in the transfer portal this year,” Brooks said.
