Caldwell County is in the market for a new softball head coach.
Seath Butts announced during the team’s awards banquet on Tuesday that he was stepping down from that post after five seasons.
Butts compiled an 84-73 record in his time in the Lady Tiger dugout.
He spoke about making the decision to step down….
Butts’ daughter, Brylee, was a senior on this year’s team and has signed to continue her softball career at the University of Memphis. He said that also played a role in his decision-making process….
Butts noted that the Lady Tigers reached one goal this year by beating Madisonville-North Hopkins to win the 7th District championship. It was Caldwell’s first district championship in softball since 2002….
Brylee Butts and Harper Holeman, who is headed to Frontier College, were the only two seniors on the field for the Lady Tigers this season. They will be missed, but Caldwell has talent returning for the next head coach….
The Lady Tigers went 17-15 this past season, winning a game in the 2nd Region tournament against Union County before falling in the regional semifinals to Livingston Central.
