With the end of the high school ‘dead period’ just a week away, activity is getting ready to pick up on football practice fields across the state. At Madisionville-North Hopkins, Markezz Hightower heads into his senior season with a chance to join some pretty elite company in terms of total rushing yards for his career.
Rolling into the 2025 season, Hightower has gained 3,785 yards over the course of three seasons in the Maroons’ backfield, capped off by 1604 yards in his junior season in 2024.
Barring injury, Hightower should roll past 4,000 yards early in the upcoming season and, with a typical season for him, have a great shot at getting past 5,000 yards later in the year.
Hightower also has the chance to reach some special territory in terms of touchdowns scored. He has 46 TDs heading into the fall, with 39 of those coming over the last two years, 20 in 2024 and 19 in 2023.
