Rhythm Bring Fireworks on Independence Day Against Hoppers

dsc07957-2

The Hoptown Hoppers went into their game on Independence Day looking for their third straight win. But they were not able to get that, as the Rhythm brought the fireworks on both sides of the field.

Corbin Crosby made the start for Full Count, and was able to pitch four innings. He allowed just two hits and one run, and he was a big part of the Rhythm being able to grab control and get the 17-2 win.

Joe King made his first appearance on the mound for the Hoppers, and started out the game mowing batters down. The Rhythm eventually got to him, as he allowed six hits and eight runs in his 4.1 innings. But he was still able to rack up eight strikeouts.

The Hoppers struck first in the bottom of the first inning on a passed ball that scored Grady Broughton from third base. Their only other run of the game came in the sixth inning when Cole Reynolds stole home.

But by this point, the Rhythm had built up a sizable lead, and they showed no signs of giving it back.

Hoptown’s hits came from Broughton, and Dominick Bello, the latter of which had two of the team’s three hits.

The team will be looking to bounce back in their next game against the Paducah Chiefs on Saturday, July 5. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Christian County High School in Hopkinsville, KY.
