The Madisonville Miners went into their matchup with the Full Count Rhythm on Saturday evening looking for their second-straight win. Despite some attempted late-inning heroics from Full Count, the Miners were able to hang on and get the victory.
Wyatt Burris made the start on the mound for Madisonville, and was able to pitch 6.2 innings. While he did give up eight hits to the Rhythm, he allowed just one run on his way to three strikeouts. He was a big key in the Miners being able to grab the 4-3 win.
Madisonville struck first in the top of the first inning when Nazhir Bergen singled, which scored Coulter Hamilton from third base. This was followed quickly by an RBI double from Dominic Maldet, which gave the Miners a 2-0 lead.
The team continued extending their lead in the second inning when Cooper Wright hit an RBI single. Pete Britton then grounded out, which was able to score a run, and this gave the Miners a 4-0 lead.
The Rhythm did all they could to come back, scoring three runs in the last few innings to cut the lead to just one. But Caden Wooldridge was able to come in and close it out, getting the save in the process.
The Miners will be hoping to win their third straight game in their next one against the Henderson Flash on Sunday, July 6. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Park Field in Henderson, KY.
