The Madisonville Miners had won their last two games going into their matchup with the Henderson Flash on Sunday evening. But unfortunately, they were not able to extend their win streak to three.

The Flash were able to put 15 runs on the board as a result of their 11 hits. Needless to say, their offense was one of the main reasons they were able to get the 15-12 win.

Niall Todd started on the mound for the Miners, but was only able to pitch three innings. No Madisonville pitcher was able to stay out on the field very long, as Henderson’s offense was just on fire.

But that does not mean that the Miners’ offense did not come to play as well, as they matched the Flash in hits with 11 as well.

They struck early in the top of the first inning with a single from Nazhir Bergen. Coulter Hamilton then doubled in the third, followed quickly by a single from Noah Berning, and this gave the team a 3-1 lead.

Henderson then took the lead right back with a three-run inning, but Madisonville was able to go on a tear in the fourth.

Pete Britton and Berning singled early in the inning, giving the team a 5-4 lead. Britton then scored on a wild pitch for the team’s sixth run of the game. The team scored two more runs in the inning as a result of a single from Dominic Maldet, and a ground ball from Cooper Wright that scored Maldet from second.

Henderson was then able to erupt for nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving them a 15-8 run. When the Miners took the field in the ninth, a few clutch hits from Ian Cartwright and Cliff Wysinger led the team to four runs, but it was not enough to get the win.

The team will be looking to bounce back in their next game against the Paducah Chiefs on Monday, July 7. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Madisonville City Park.
