The Hoptown Hoppers went into the matchup against the Henderson Flash on Monday evening looking for their second straight win. But they were not granted the satisfaction of it just yet, as the rain came in the bottom of the sixth inning to stall the game.
Thomas Forehand made his second start with the Hoppers, but was only able to pitch three innings. Zach Hampton and Jacob Dilday came in and stopped the bleeding a bit, which was key in them being able to end the shortened game tied at four runs apiece with the Flash.
The Hoppers’ first run of the game cam in the bottom of the second inning when Gabe Eddington singled. This was followed quickly by Carson Tucker stealing home, which tied the game at two runs apiece.
The team was then able to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third after a two-run home run from Myles Denton. The one run lead wasn’t enough, as the Flash came back in the fifth with a home run of their own to tie the game.
And that is when the storm came to ruin the fun.
There is no date that has been announced for when the two teams will continue this game. But for now, the Hoppers will be focusing on their next game on Wednesday, July 9, against the Madisonville Miners. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Christian County High School in Hopkinsville, KY.
