Kentuckian Alex Miller made his name known nationally in 2021 as a contestant on “American Idol” at age 17 and that helped launch a successful country music singing career for the Garrard County native.
He’s performed at the Grand Ole Opry and at shows in Kentucky as well as across the county.
Now Miller, a huge University of Kentucky sports fan, can add another title to his resume — brand ambassador for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Kentucky Proud program. The Kentucky Proud program is designed to increase awareness of agricultural initiatives and promote member products and I cannot think of anyone better to promote those goals than Miller.
“I come from a long line of Kentucky farmers, and I can tell you that the work is hard but incredibly rewarding,” Miller said in a news release announcing his new partnership. “I am honored to be a part of Kentucky Proud.
“This chance to serve as an ambassador will allow me to highlight member accomplishments spotlighted by this amazing program. I love Kentucky and I will always do all I can to share the wonders of the Commonwealth. As an American FFA degree recipient, this was an easy opportunity to say ‘yes’ to, and I’m eager to get started.”
Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell, another Garrard County native who has a farm there, immediately knew Miller was the perfect fit for Kentucky Proud.
“Alex is just as Kentucky as it gets. Because he comes from an agricultural background, he is the perfect spokesperson for Kentucky Proud products. Like Kentucky Proud products, he represents the authenticity of this state. It couldn’t be a better match,” Shell said.
Miller will get to do what he does best — interact with people at his shows and at scheduled events to connect consumers with Kentucky producers.
Miller’s current single, “The Byrd,” featuring Country icon Tracy Byrd, is available on Billy Jam Records. Personally, I still love listening to “More Country Than You,” a song he does with The Voice alum Emily Ann Roberts.

As a man that grew up on a 400 acre farm in Breathitt County, I enjoyed/identified with the sentiment of being a proud Kentuckian/farm boy with profound respect & pride of such heritage. Another good read mixed in with UK basketball. Thanks, Larry!
