Driving for the potential tying score, Trigg County saw the clock run out along with their chances to beat Calloway County at the Best of the West 7-on-7 Football Tournament outside the Stadium of Champions on Friday.
Calloway County scored with two minutes left to take a 27-21 lead. Trigg County drove down the field, and Caden Scott connected with Brody Renfroe on a pass in the flat. Renfroe was touched down at the 2-yard line, and the Wildcats were unable to get to the line and run a play before time expired.
The Lakers are coached by Coby Lewis, the former Trigg County skipper who is in his first season at the Murray school.
Trigg County plays Kenwood Saturday morning at 8:30 in the first game of the BOTW double-elimination bracket.
