The second game of pool play Friday at the Best of the West found the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons taking on the 2024 champions of the event, Macon County. The Maroons got control of the game early and cruised to a 38-19 win.
Sophomore quarterback Alex Richards was clicking with his receivers against the Macon secondary, finding several opportunities to strike over the top.
The Madisonville defense was then able to keep Macon County from mounting a comeback effort as the Maroons started their day 2-0.
The game was the first of the day played without helmets, as temperatures quickly warmed up to the point where heat safety guidelines required that the one-hand touch game be played without headgear.
