The Pearl-Cohn Firebirds last won the Best of the West 7-on-7 in the summer of 2022. Friday morning, they looked like a team that could once again take the title. In Christian County’s second game of the day, the Colonels ran up against the Firebirds and could just never get the offense going.
The young Colonel team dropped a 36-7 decision to Pearl-Cohn with the Colonels’ points coming primarily on defense.
The Firebird offense, with blazing speed on the outside, was able to strike deep on several occasions in rolling to the big win, which dropped the Colonels to 0-2 for the morning in pool play.
