
The Madisonville Miners had lost four straight heading into their game on Wednesday evening against the Fulton Railroaders, but they were not able to snap that losing streak.
Madisonville took a 7-6 lead into the ninth inning at Fulton, but the Railroaders were able to win it with a walk-off in the bottom half of the inning to end the game wit ha score of 8-7.
Ernesto Mendiondo made the start on the mound for the Miners, and was able to pitch 5.1 innings. He was able to rack up six strikeouts, but his four walks got him into the slightest bit of trouble.
As for the offense, the Miners got their first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning when Nazhir Bergen hit a double. This was followed quickly by another double from Justin Early, making it 2-0.
A pair of homers from Cliff Wysinger and Noah Berning in the fifth inning made it 5-0. Then, a pair of steals of home plate got the Miners their sixth and seventh runs of the game, which gave them a four-run lead at the time.
But that was not enough to get the best of the Railroaders, who won it with a double from Shane Carnes.
The Miners’ other hits in the game came from Coulter Hamilton, who had three.
Madisonville will be looking to get back on the right track in their next game on Friday, July 18, against the Full Count Rhythm. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Madisonville City Park.
