Alice Schonborg’s goal in the final minute gave Lidköpings FK a 1-0 win over University Heights Academy in the Gothia Cup Thursday night in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The Lady Blazers, who finished in fourth place in the 18U Group 5, put forth their best defensive effort of the tournament, facing the third-place team from Group 6. It was the second 1-0 win for the Swedish team in the tournament.

UHA finishes its Gothia Cup experience with a 0-4 record against international club teams that Coach Michael Parker hopes will prepare his senior-laden team for the upcoming season.

The team will stop over in London for a couple of days before returning to the States. As part of the agreement with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association to play in the Gothia Cup before the official start of practice, UHA will not have any preseason scrimmages before its August 11 opener at Greenwood.
