The Hoptown Hoppers had lost their last game going into their matchup with the Fulton Railroaders on Saturday evening, and they were able to bounce back and get the win in a close one.
Their offense was able to get the job done when it counted, racking up 10 hits over the course of the game. This was a big key in them being able to grab the 10-9 win.
The team’s first run came in the bottom of the fourth inning when Cole Reynolds scored on a ground ball from Myles Denton.
The seventh inning was a big one for Hoptown, starting with a ground ball from Tyler Casserly. A pair of singles from Grady Broughton and Gavin Powell gave the Hoppers a 6-3 lead. The Railroaders took the lead back, and then Evan Cardwell singled in the bottom of the eighth to make it 9-7.
Eli Laurent got the scoring started in the bottom of the ninth with a single that cut Fulton’s lead to just one. But it was Jordan Carter’s single that scored the two runs that won the game for the Hoppers.
The team’s other hits in the game came from Owen Hutcheson and Chance Sweeney.
Hoptown will be looking to keep it going in their first game of the Ohio Valley League Playoffs against the Henderson Flash on Sunday, July 20. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Henderson, KY.
