Stormy weather cost the Madisonville soccer team a game on Friday, and the Maroons finished Saturday with a 0-2 record at the Bluegrass State Games in Lexington.

The team was set to begin play Friday against McCracken County, but a pair of lightning delays ahead of a storm canceled that contest at Masterson Station Park.

On Saturday, Nash Tapp scored a pair of goals in a 3-2 loss to Conner. In their second game, Paul Laurence Dunbar scored three goals in the final 10 minutes for a 3-0 win.

New Madisonville coach Jordan Harper is working to replace 11 seniors from last year’s team that reached the region semifinals. The Maroons will host Ohio County in their first official scrimmage on August 7.
