Former Murray State University baseball player Jonathan Hogart signed a free-agent minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies this week.

Hogart tied a Murray State team record with 22 home runs, with eight of them coming during the Racers’ postseason run that ended at the College World Series in Omaha.

The former Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroon had college stops at Wabash Valley and Louisiana Tech before playing his final two seasons at Murray State.

Hogart is waiting to learn his minor league assignment. The Phillies have a rookie league affiliate in Clearwater, Florida.
