Kiya Sears
It may have been only a scrimmage, but freshman Kiya Sears made a loud debut for the Caldwell County Lady Tiger soccer team.
Sears scored six times, helping the Lady Tigers defeat Owensboro 8-2 Thursday night at Butler Stadium in Princeton.
Caldwell’s girls ran out to a 6-2 lead by halftime, with Sears picking up four goals before the break.
Aliya Towns added two tallies in the Lady Tigers’ first scrimmage.
Nunie Bates recorded four assists in the contest while Mariah Vickery added one helper.
The preseason match was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was pushed back two days because of the excessive heat earlier in the week.
The Lady Tigers will play their final scrimmage next Tuesday at Apollo High School in Owensboro.
Caldwell begins the regular season on Monday, Aug. 11, at Lyon County.
