Putting four golfers on the course for the first time in several years, Trigg County posted the low score on Thursday to win the rain-delayed Trigg County Invitational at Boots Randolph Golf Course.

Helped with the addition of three athletes from the softball team, Trigg County finished 41 shots ahead of second-place Webster County to claim the title.

Emma Dowell shot a career-best 75 to finish in second place, four shots behind the winner, Shelby Smith of Stewart County, Tennessee. Dowell’s score comes three days after her previous best score of 76 at Park Mammoth Golf Course.

Addy Holley, Livia Breckel, and Lily Eagleson all competed in their first 18-hole varsity match for Trigg County. Holley had the low score of the three (110), good for eighth place. Breckel finished in 10th place, and Eagleson was 13th.

The event was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was bumped a day due to an extreme heat advisory. On Thursday, the tourney was delayed an hour due to thunderstorms.
