
After winning a match and losing two by less than 10 total points on Saturday, Heritage Christian Academy’s run at the Bluegrass State Games in Lexington came to an end Sunday morning in another close loss.
Competing in flight play at Bryan Station High School, the Lady Warriors fell to Christian Fellowship 21-16, 23-22.
Heritage Christian Academy began play on Friday at Frederick Douglass High School against Covington Holy Cross, 19-17, a year ago, and 13th District champion Logan County (20-15).
The Lady Warriors fell to Holy Cross 21-11, 21-7 and dropped a 21-15, 21-10 decision to Logan County.
On Saturday, they were placed in a pool at Frederick Douglass with Calloway County (8-14), 22nd District champion Butler (16-13), and Bardstown (14-15).
The Lady Warriors dropped a 22-20, 21-19 contest with the Lady Lakers of the First Region in their opener.
They picked up their first win of the Games on Saturday afternoon against Butler. They dropped the first set 21-18 but rallied to win the final two 21-17 and 15-10.
They closed out play Saturday against the pool winner Bardstown and fell 21-18, 21-17.
For the weekend, HCA compiled a 1-5 record.
The Lady Warriors return four starters from last year’s 24-6 region championship team that will begin the 2025 season with a new coach after Grace Stewart stepped down after last season.
HCA will host New Covenant Christian Academy for a scrimmage on Friday, and host Northside Baptist on August 14. The Lady Warriors open the season on August 19 at Madisonville-North Hopkins.
