Jake Witherspoon led another consistent effort Monday as the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons picked up another Top 10 finish. Witherspoon shot a 5-over par 77 to help lead the Maroons to sixth place at the Greenwood Gator Boys Invitational at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Witherspoon shot a 37 on the front nine and then a 40 on the back side. The score placed him in a five-way tie for 16th place. His teammate, Treyson Raymer, was one shot back at 78, tied for 21st place.
Barton Rutledge, of Allen County-Scottsville, took medalist honors with a 69. Miller Osborne, of Bethlehem, finished in second place with a 70.
As a team, the Maroons finished the day with a score of 317, good enough for sixth place. McCracken County won the event with a 298. Lexington Christian was four shots back at 302 and claimed second place.
