The Caldwell County Tiger football team traveled to Bowling Green Friday for its first scrimmage against the Greenwood Gators.
Each side scored on a long touchdown play as the varsity portion of the scrimmage ended in a 6-6 tie.
Caldwell struck first when Daelyn Lander hooked up with Kam Wilson, who got behind the Gator defense down the left side. The touchdown went for over 50 yards.
Greenwood countered with a run of about the same distance for its touchdown.
The Gators did add a long scoring run later when the junior varsity squads were on the field.
The scrimmage consisted of 10-and-10 series. The teams also did some special teams work and lineman drills prior to the 10-and-10.
It was the first time Caldwell has hooked up with Class 5A Greenwood on gridiron.
The Tigers hit the road again next week for their final preseason contest. Caldwell will travel to Owensboro to face Apollo High School.
The Tigers will open the regular season on Aug. 22 with a trip to Hopkins County Central.
