
After 40 minutes of Monday’s season opener, it looked like Trigg County and Fort Campbell would be destined for a shootout. The teams combined for over 20 shots, and the Lady Wildcats held a 3-1 lead.
However, things slowed down a bit in the second half as conditioning caught up to the players and the defenses took control. In the end, the 3-1 Lady Wildcat advantage held up.
Leiah Hite scored twice in the game’s first 15 minutes with Addison Humohries assisting on the first goal.
Fort Campbell nearly cut the lead in half in the 30th minute when A’Mari Grimsley got loose in front of the net and poked a shot that was kicked away by Trigg defender Bralyn Harper.
Two minutes later, Alexa Aubuchon got the Lady Falcons on the board with a left-footed kick that found the top of the net.

With a minute left in the half, Maggie Wolfe fed a through ball to Hite, who knocked it home for the 3-1 advantage.
The hat trick was the 15th of Hite’s career as the senior nears the 100-goal mark for her Trigg career.
The only real scoring threat in the second half came three minutes in when Grimsley took s shot that bounced off the crossbar.
Avaley Moore had eight saves in goal for the Lady Falcons, who were outshot by Trigg 19-15.
The Lady Wildcats (1-0) will host Caldwell County on Tuesday, while the Lady Falcons (0-1) will host Clarksville Northwest on Thursday in the first game at Fort Campbell’s new soccer field outside of the high school.
