Aliya Towns couldn’t have asked for a better way to start her senior season.

The Caldwell County standout had a hat trick in each half — finishing the night when six goals as the Lady Tigers rolled 8-0 at Lyon County on Monday.

The six goals tie a Lady Tiger single-game record.

Towns’ final goal came inside the final 2 minutes as Caldwell ended the game just a little early on the eight-goal mercy rule.

Towns scored six straight goals after Kinlee Rowland put up a pair of early tallies to give the Lady Tigers a quick 2-0 lead.

Rowland scored with help from Addie Middleton in the 7th minute, then scored off a Nunie Bates corner kick in the 16th minute to get Caldwell started on the right foot.

Rowland assisted on Towns’ first goal midway through the first half.

Towns then struck for a pair of goals in the 27th and 28th minutes. Ziva Falder assisted on the first score. The second was unassisted as Towns dribbled in close and found the net.

That put Caldwell up 5-0 at halftime.

Towns kept rolling after the break.

She scored in the 54th minute off her own rebound.

Falder picked up another assist in the 65th minute.

Towns ended the game in the 79th minute when she scored following a Kiya Sears corner kick.

It’s just the fourth time a Lady Tiger has scored six goals in a game. Kaylee McEnaney was the last to do it, getting six against Lyon in the 2018 regional tournament. Zaria Blount had six against Crittenden County in 2016 and Sam Gilkey scored six against Christian County in 2000.

The Lady Tigers have now won five straight meetings with Lyon. Caldwell holds a 38-11-3 advantage in the all-time series.

The Lady Tigers are on the road again on Tuesday when they go to Trigg County.

Lyon’s girls will play at home again on Thursday against Mayfield.
