A tough way to open the season for the Todd County Central Rebels Tuesday night. The Rebels traveled to Draffenville to take on the 2024 1st Region runner-up and 2025 1st Region contender Marshall County. The Marshals used a first half spurt to get control of the match and then went on to take a 7-0 win on their home pitch.

The match was the first ever meeting between the two programs.

Marshall County got a run started late in the first half against the Rebels. Davis Hunt scored off a corner kick 32 minutes into the game to put the Marshals ahead 1-0.

Not long after that, Marshall County was on the board again. This time, Lincoln Colburn scored three minutes later to move the Marshals’ lead out to 2-0.

The first half flurry came to an end moments later, with 2:47 to go in the opening half when Brayden York converted off another corner kick, this one from Lincoln Colburn, as the Marshals took a 3-0 lead into the break.

Ten minutes into the second half, Marshall County was back at it. Lincoln Colburn found the net to extend the lead out to 4-0.

The score remained that way until the final 12 minutes of the match. The Marshals then took advantage of some fatigue on Todd County Central’s part and put three more goals on the board to close out the match.

For the night, five of the seven goals for Marshall County came off corner kicks and one came off a late penalty kick.

The Rebels (0-1) will play their home opener Thursday evening when they host the Hopkins County Central Storm.
