The Hopkins County Central Storm are moving on in the Kentucky 2A boys’ soccer championship. The Storm advanced by pushing past Paducah Tilghman 5-4 on the road Tuesday evening.
Hopkins Central had to survive playing the final 20 minutes of the match a man down after the Storm had a player receive a red card midway through the second half.
Central got big nights from Jude Mitchell and Riley Dunlap, who scored two goals each. Cohl Hoard added the other goal for the Storm.
Hoard, Brennan Scott, and Talon Stephens had one assist each.
William Clevenger came up with some big plays in goal and finished the match with 14 saves.
The Storm advance on to take on the winner of a match between Calloway County and Webster County, which will be played August 18th. The winner will take on the Storm August 26th at 7:30 at Trigg County in the sectional semifinals.
Hopkins County Central (1-0) goes back on the road Thursday night to take on the Todd County Central Rebels (0-1).
